Veena Malik’s Dirty Picture
After actor Vidya Balan, it’s now Veena Malik’s turn to get dirty. The Pakistani actor has signed the South remake of the blockbuster hit, The Dirty Picture, as the female lead.
“I don’t mind being titled as South’s Vidya Balan,” says Veena, who is currently shooting for the film, Supermodel, with actor Ashmit Patel in Fiji, Australia.
She will start shooting for The Dirty Picture’s remake on May 10.
Rumours were rife that Tamil actor Nayanthara and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma were also approached for the role of Silk. “I’m not aware of that. All I know is that I was approached and I agreed as I fell in love with the role. It is a female-centric film and a powerful role to make a debut in South Indian Cinema,” says Veena, adding that her upcoming Bollywood films — Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, Zindagi 50-50 and Mumbai 125 km — are all female-centric movies.

Super hit Bollywood biographical drama The Dirty Picture, which received numerous awards including the National Award for the Best Actress (Vidya Balan) and box office collections last year, will be soon remade in Tamil and Telugu. The latest update is that Pakistani actress, who kickstarted a new controversy for posing nude, has been signed to play the lead role. ‘Super excited to be the part of south film industry…..just signed “THE DIRTY PICTURE”…..!!!’ she tweeted.
Reports said that the makers of the Hindi version are looking at remaking the film in Tamil and Telugu which is inspired by the life of Silk Smitha, noted for her erotic roles! Apparently Vidya Balan underwent a lot of image makeover and hardwork for this flick we wonder how Veena Malik would handle it?

On a pertinent question whether the remake rights have been acquired for Kannada cinema director Trishul says the Hindi film makers have not sought any permission for making a film on the life sketch of ‘Silk Smitha’. Whatever is not shown on Silk Smitha is shown in this Kannada cinema. Veena Mallik is taking part in the photo shoot for the film on 12th of May. Akshay son of producer Venkatappa is the lead hero.
Interesting part for the luscious watchers is that Veena Malik will be shown in ‘Two Piece’ – a costume that Silk Smitha used to wear in South Indian films. This is what the difference with Vidya Balan ‘Dirty Picture’.
