7 infants killed in Lhr hospital fire

LAHORE: At least seven infants were killed when the infant’s ward at the Services Hospital caught fire. More than a dozen children were severely burnt in the fire and several are in critical condition.

This is Third major fire at Services Hospital in two years .

DCO Lahore while speaking to Geo News said the reason behind the fire was a short circuit; however he made this statement without a proper investigation into the incident.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the incident and ordered an immediate inquiry.

According to reports, 17 children sustained severe burn injuries and were being provided treatment. Sources said that the children were rescued, vandalizing the glasses of the emergency ward.

The sources said the fire erupted due to electric short-circuit. DCO Lahor said a total of 18 children of age group between 10-day to 1 year were kept in the ward.
Media reports said no precautionary measures were taken to in case of any emergency such as fire.

Provincial health department had barred Services Hospital administration from issuing statements to media.
