Easy Way to Downgrade WordPress 3.5 to Older Versions

NOTE: Before Downgrading remember to take a Backup of your blog so that you don’t lose any file or folder.

Note: First take a complete backup of your site or using any wordpress plugin. This article may help you take automatic wordpress backup.

From the date when the New WordPress 3.5 Elvin is released many people are commenting and reporting that the new version of WordPress is full of Bugs. Some people reported that the new WordPress update have ruined our blogs.

Same problem was faced by me my new blog was updated to WordPress version 3.5 from 3.4.2 my all plugins stopped working, theme functions were disabled, my posts were not edited once published and I wasn’t able to change my Featured Image for my blog posts.

I started to Google and many people’ve got the same problem I came across a solution which today I’m going to share with you.

It is really easy to downgrade WordPress 3.5 to older version you just have to follow few simple steps but BE CAREFULL which following my steps. Incase of any damage, we VUsolutions team will not be responsible. This method is 100% Working. But if you’ve got any problem in downgrading then must comment here. We’ll do our best to solve your problem.

Downgrading WordPress 3.5 to Older Version:

Download older version of WordPress from here (I recommend you to Download WP 3.4.2)

Go to your WordPress Dashboard and deactivate all of your plugins and logout from your WP account.

Open any of your FTP client i.e Filezilla or any other. Connect to your file manager of your Blog.

Now delete wp-admin and wp-includes folder REMEMBER DON’T DELETE wp-contents OR ELSE YOU’LL LOSE ALL OF YOUR POSTS AND BACKUPS.

After deleting, now copy all files except the wp-contents from the older version of WordPress which you downloaded to your file manager via FTP client. Look at the screenshot bellow.

Now go to your WordPress dashboard and click on “Update WordPress Database” and then click on “Continue” to log in your WordPress dashboard.

After Update successful, the following window shows:

Congratulations! You’ve now successfully downgraded to WordPress’ Older Version!

How To Backup WordPress to Dropbox account with WpTimeMachine Plugin

Ever since WordPress became the most popular blogging platform, bad guys started their work. Many WordPress blogs gets hacked, even if required measures are taken to secure the site. All you can do is backup your site regularly so that you can be relived from the tensions of hacking.

Backing up a wordpress site is not difficult, but it becomes difficult if you need to manually backup everyday. There are many handy plugins that helps you to backup your blog automatically. All those plugins backup your blog on the same server and if your hosting account gets hacked all the data might be lost.

So I like to use this plugin which helps you to backup your blog automatically to your dropbox account. All you need is the plugin and the dropbox account to get started.

How to Backup WordPress Files to Dropbox Account

Requirements:

WordPress
DropBox Account
Wp-Time Machine Plugin

Create an dropbox account on the dropbox website. DropBox is a Web-based file hosting service operated by Dropbox, Inc. that uses cloud computing to enable users to store and share files and folders with others across the Internet using file synchronization. Its actually pretty useful service.

They have free account where you get 2GB usage beyond that you have to pay. They also have a DropBox Referral System where they give you an extra 250MB of storage for every person who downloads and installs dropbox. i.e. Both the person who refers(me) and the person who is being referred(you) gets an extra 250 MB of space.

You can Signup for DropBox from this link so that we both get an extra 250MB of storage.

Now install the WpTimeMachine WordPress plugin. After you install you have to enter the dropbox account details such as email and password. If you like to create a backup in different folder then create a new folder in dropbox. Now, enter the folder name in this plugin and click on “Generate Wp Time Machine Archive”. That’s it! Your backup is created.

You can see the above screenshot for help. You can click on “Show Instructions” and “Show Plugin Options” to learn more about the plugin.

The backup will be generated in the folder you mentioned. You can login to your dropbox account and see the backup. This is the best way to create a backup i believe. You can also store a copy of backup on you PC.
